56Bit X BMIT

56Bit Secures Investment from BMIT Technologies in Strategic Partnership

56Bit Ltd, an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner specialising in cloud solutions, DevOps, and managed services, announced that it has secured a strategic investment from BMIT Technologies plc, Malta’s leading digital infrastructure, cloud, and managed IT services provider. This strategic move significantly enhances both companies’ capabilities in delivering cutting-edge cloud solutions and managed services.

Expanding Cloud Expertise and Market Reach

The strategic partnership marks a pivotal moment for 56Bit, allowing the company to leverage BMIT’s extensive resources and market presence while maintaining its operational independence. This partnership will enable 56Bit to expand its reach and contribute to one of the most comprehensive cloud service offerings in Malta and beyond.

Patrick Camilleri, CEO of 56Bit, expressed his enthusiasm about the investment, stating, “This partnership with BMIT is a game-changer for 56Bit. It allows us to amplify our impact, bringing our specialised AWS expertise to a wider audience. We’re excited to join forces with a company that shares our commitment to delivering cutting-edge cloud solutions and exceptional service. Together, we will accelerate our clients’ digital transformation journeys and provide them with even greater value.”

Enhancing AWS Capabilities

This new chapter with BMIT enhances our ability to push the boundaries of cloud technology and deliver even more sophisticated and scalable solutions. We’re thrilled to combine our deep AWS knowledge with BMIT’s broad infrastructure and service portfolio.”

A Shared Vision for Cloud Leadership

This strategic move aligns with both companies’ overarching vision to be top-tier cloud services providers to the iGaming industry and other sectors. By joining forces, 56Bit and BMIT are well-positioned to offer tailored, high-quality AWS solutions and accelerate the delivery of AWS-focused cloud migration, optimisation, and managed services.

Ing. Christian Sammut, CEO of BMIT, highlighted the significance of the investment: “The provision of cloud services is at the heart of our business, and over the past few years, we have seen an ever-growing demand for these services. This investment not only boosts our Cloud expertise, particularly on AWS solutions, but also reinforces our ability to be truly vendor-agnostic, delivering solutions that are as unique as our clients.”

As 56Bit aligns with the BMIT Group, clients can expect enhanced cloud services, expanded expertise, and a continued commitment to delivering innovative and reliable AWS solutions.

56Bit at ICE London 2023. AWS as a key enabler in the iGaming world

Held in London a few days ago, ICE 2023 was an unforgettable experience where we were able to meet some of the best minds and talent in the gaming industry from all around the globe. The events took place at ExCel London, and had areas dedicated to various aspects of igaming – from latest gaming technologies, to cutting-edge software based on AI and VR.

ICE Gaming 2023 was not just about the latest technology, though. It was also an opportunity to learn about the trends and challenges facing the gaming industry. The adoption of cloud is ever growing, with companies such as igaming operators, looking to offload applications and systems, from their on-premise architecture to the cloud. In a nutshell, a myriad of new technologies, new supporting methodologies, new ways of conducting business and enhanced services to streamline and engage new business were all very evident during these days.

It transpired that AWS can very effectively support gaming companies to modernise their infrastructure, in addition to supporting them to build platforms in the cloud. The mindset is increasingly shifting onto ‘cloud first’ architectures from day one. A good number of interesting meetings were held in which we explored how 56Bit can assist organisations through their journey in the cloud. Major pain points which were evident, and where AWS can come in to efficiently resolve such challenges include the optimisation of costs, the neutralising of growth blockers which are stagnating organisations from achieving scalability and the general modernisation of solutions.

Stefan Caruana, our business development director claims that “It was an amazing experience at ICE ’23! The atmosphere was filled with energy and buzz, and it was exhilarating to meet so many different people from all over the world. We had some great conversations about the latest trends in technology and it’s clear that AWS is high on everyone’s agenda when it comes to achieving top performance, security, cost efficiency, and stability. Can’t wait to see what the future holds for this avant-garde industry!”

We have already marked our calendars for ICE Gaming 2024! In the meantime we are always looking for potential partners to collaborate with in delivering best-in-class AWS cloud infrastructure solutions.

Powerful Insights from 56Bit’s CEO during the recent AWS Compute & FinOps Event Keynote Address

AWS is increasingly becoming the goto cloud computing provider because of its robust compute solutions. However, a pressing challenge remains, managing costs effectively. At a recent event hosted by 56 Bit, at Hyatt Regency St Julian’s, AWS keynote speakers and 56 Bit’s CEO Patrick Camilleri, shared critical insights on integrating FinOps with AWS compute solutions to optimise cloud spending without altering application architecture. The event served as a platform to also closely understand 56 Bit’s latest solution: Cost Saver.

Following are the key takeaways from the event:

Understanding FinOps in the AWS Ecosystem

FinOps, or Cloud Financial Management, is a practice that empowers organisations to maximise their cloud investments. It focuses on collaboration between finance and engineering teams to ensure that cloud usage aligns with business objectives. One of the most compelling aspects of FinOps is that it allows organisations to optimise costs without needing to change their applications or architecture.

No Need for Application Changes

With a strong FinOps strategy, organisations can make strategic adjustments to existing resources instead of altering application code. This approach not only simplifies cost management but also ensures that businesses can achieve immediate savings of 10-30% within just a few weeks – without any downtime. By focusing on resource optimisation rather than application modification, companies can maintain operational continuity while improving their financial performance.

Eliminating Unpredictability in AWS Billing

AWS billing can often seem opaque, showcasing only service and region without providing comprehensive insights into cost drivers. This lack of clarity can lead to unexpected expenses and budgeting challenges. However, tools like Cost Saver help demystify AWS charges, making it easier for iGaming organisations to understand and manage their cloud spending effectively.

Key Benefits of 56 Bit’s Cost Saver

  • Enhanced Visibility: Provides detailed insights into AWS billing.
  • Simplified Management: Helps users track and optimise costs seamlessly.
  • Proactive Cost Control: Enables timely adjustments based on usage patterns.

When introducing Cost Saver, iGaming companies can remove unpredictability from their AWS billing equation and take control of their cloud expenditures. As Patrick Camilleri, CEO of 56 Bit elaborated “For iGaming companies, Cost Saver is indispensable. It delivers meaningful cost savings while keeping infrastructure at peak efficiency, giving our clients an edge in this competitive industry.”

Adopting a Staggered Approach to Cost Optimisation

One crucial piece of advice shared at the event, by the 56 Bit team, was the importance of avoiding a “big bang” approach when implementing FinOps practices. Instead, iGaming companies should adopt a crawl-walk-run methodology. This staggered approach allows teams to gradually integrate financial operations into their existing workflows, minimising disruption while maximising learning opportunities. The steps for implementation include:

  • Crawl: Start with basic cost monitoring and reporting.
  • Walk: Introduce more advanced tools for resource optimisation.
  • Run: Fully integrate FinOps practices across all teams for comprehensive cost management.

By taking this gradual approach, casinos, sportsbooks and other iGaming organisations can ensure that they are not overwhelmed by the changes and can adapt effectively over time.

Integrating FinOps with AWS compute solutions presents a powerful opportunity for organisations looking to optimise their cloud spending.

As highlighted by Patrick Camilleri, CEO of 56 Bit, these strategies not only lead to immediate savings but also foster a culture of accountability and efficiency within online gambling organisations.
